So my friends Scott and Penina got married the other weekend and I made them a small comic zine thing about the night they met as a wedding present.
Because I was there and it was hilarious.
Consider these elements:
- A face hugging alien face mask
- A platter of meaty Hors d’œuvres
- A vegetarian
- Tumblers of wine
- A cheese platter
- A party of policy wonks
They didn’t seem to think it was hilarious when I handed it to them at the post-bridal brunch thing though, they both cried.
I am going to take this as a sign of success.
Scott (commonly known as Brides) promised to take some iphone snaps of pages missed in a terrible scanning accident, but the mofo went on his honeymoon already and I haven’t seen them.
Some people.
I used some seriously heavy duty watercolour paper to make the comic and drew with ink using dip pens and brushes.
The textures were created with masking fluid and ink washes – which turned out to be a bit of a nightmare when I dropped ink all over the final page with only limited time before the ceremony started (hence scanning crisis).
Here are some pictures that don’t tell a story at all.
