Lynda Barry redux Harris style

In the rush of cartoon boot-camp I’d like to share a school assignment: my version of Lynda Barry‘s Ernie Pook’s Comeek

Starring a weird kid named Marlys, Barry’s comic was a classic American strip and for one whole week I had to draw AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL reproductions of Barry’s work.

This was a lot tougher than you’d think, Barry’s brush style is really hard to emulate. It looks messy and free flowing, but it’s actually deliberate and considered.

Apologies to my brother and sister, I may have mined our childhood for this assignment.
